All good insights. We'll see how it goes. I have a hen who squats for me all. The. Time. I used to give her a pet, but I don't anymore out of deference to my cockerel. I try to be respectful, but I'm still learning his behaviors and tendencies.
I'd read that ppl new to chickens shouldn't try to raise cockerels, but we gotta learn some time, right? Every experienced rooster owner had his/her first rooster, after all. I've been doing tons of reading and watching videos and observing my little flock. It's been interesting and difficult at times, but I think it's going well so far. But he's still young. We will see.....
