I have two broody hens. The black sex-link hen went broody first and had been sitting on the eggs for at least a week. Then a black australorp went broody and pushed the sex-link off the nest. Can I move some of the eggs from the australorp and give them to the sex-link? Or s it better to start her with a couple of fresh eggs all her own? I have limited space to separate mommas and chicks if any hatch, so that's a factor also. I hate to discourage the BSL from broodiness, since that's relatively unusual for them. Maybe I'm over-thinking this whole situation!

The biggest problem I've had with multiple setters in the same building is that they try to steal each other's eggs.
Also volunteer eggs after incubation starts is an issue.
Mark all the eggs under each with the date that they started and what hen they're under.

I have 5 broody girls, 3 in the last week. I've made two trips into Austin for fertile eggs over 4 days. My husband partitioned off the nesting room from the rest of the coop to curb any confession with new eggs laid by our other girls. I labeled all the nests with hen type, number of eggs and hatch dates.
