Hands on hatching and help

My first batch of chicks is hatching So far 15 of 21 have externally piped.
Two hatched today (day 20) one of these seems a little weak.the other was turning all the eggs over so he is in the brooder now.
Should I turn the bator temp down a degree or 2 on my next batch?

Awww!!! :love :love

So glad your duckling is doing well... as for the eggs, were they moving? Still live embryos? If so, then they always have a chance... :)

Yeah, I guess that was kind of a stupid question, lol. Of course there's always a chance of them hatching a long as they're alive. And yes, they are all alive still. What I really meant to ask is do large air cells significantly decrease their chance of hatching, or do you think they have a good chance?

Depends on how large they are... loosing too much moisture can cause the embryo as much issue as not enough... though different sized eggs may look different and /or lose more or less than the rest... can you get pics of the different air cells?

does a still air incubator mean it doesn't have a fan to circulate the air?

Yep, that's exactly what that means... your best bet for a good, reliable bator on the cheaper side than Brinsea is to save up for the Hovabator Genesis 1588... I still have 2, been running for like 3 years now with rarely a break, and they're still going strong...

Get the circulated air version, it will be much easier for you:

Or learn how to add a fan to the still air one, it's not too hard. You will need a computer fan and a cell phone charger to do so though, so spending the extra $12 for circulated air is probably easier.

Or at the very least, the one in Pyxis' link... I had a 1602N before and it was solid too... passed it on to another when I got the Genesis...
