Hands on hatching and help

On my first batch of eggs ever, I literally could not stop candling! I would wake up and tell myself that I was not going to candle and I would cave in a few hours. Those were shipped too and I can't believe I managed to hatch them! Lol.

I keep telling myself the same, lol but I cave also

Thanks for clearing that up for me, @RubyNala97
I am old,and easily confused.  So, how do Silkies do in winter?  (I can't believe I just asked that!) :barnie

That's ok. It's the Internet, it's easy to get confused talking through typing. I'm in NY and they did fine this winter. It was a mild winter but it had its moments. I wrapped the run in greenhouse plastic and put tarps over the coop. And of course the little ones had their mph. But everyone did good. My flock is made up solely of bearded silkies.

OW OW OW.....You always hurt the ones you love, lalalalllllllala  Caught you again, didn't I?  Ruby, guess you better watch for a PM from me and some PayPal information.  Ken just grinned at me and said, "Good thing you got other incubator disinfected and boxed back up again, ain't it?"  Well, Pa....I haven't decided anything for sure yet.

Haha!! Seriously, I would love to send you eggs!!

Thanks RubyNala97 The one that had died was peeping when I candle before it had died......the other isn't peeping though so I will keep you updated.

I think the last egg died also I think it got flipped around somehow I made a small hole and it looked nothing like the other one its foot was at the top and no movement I don't know why or how that happened.

I posted this the other day but no response. So at 1 am this morning I unzipped the egg myself while the chicken peeped inside. I did not break the membrane. Put the chicken back in incubator. Own at 7 am the status is yhe same. I came see the chicken breathing in the egg still. I have another egg that is half way unzipped and it's still making progress. The egg I unzipped pipped about 48 hours ago. What should I do now.

So, the chicken that you zipped the shell for is still in the membrane and you have a second egg that has been zipping? Want to make sure that I understand. The egg that you zipped the shell, I would moisten the membrane and if there are no signs of heavy veining I would pull the membrane back and free the little guy. How long has the second one been zipping for?

I just took the 48 hour egg since pip the one I zipped at 1 am and it is peeping but seems stuck so I took the shell off the top and left membrane in tact. When I did this a little piece of memarine tore below and it is bleeding a little. I put another moist Towle over the membrane and and set the egg back inside incubator

Ok, if it's bleeding just moisten the membrane and give it a bit more time. You can use bacitracin or a LIGHT coat of vaseline on the exposed membrane to keep it moist while it is waiting.
