Hands on hatching and help

Just lost hernia baby last night and two goldfish. Two weeks. I have to come up with a better solution. I wish I could afford to fence the garden in and just let them run from the coop to garden. But we get stray dogs and cats.

So weird. I can't see most of anyone's post. I saw something about chicks hatching but it's all gone now.

Ok so I have all my eggs in the 2 incubators. One is an auto turner and the other is manual. Question number 1.. there is no door. I have to take the lid all the way off to turn eggs. Every time temp and humidity go down. Is this going to effect my hatch? 2nd question.. how do I know the turner is working in the auto. I haven't seen it move yet and I'm starting to freak out. If they have been in there for a day without turning is it a lost cause now?

Opening the incubator to turn the eggs several times a day will not hurt anything as long as you do it then put the top back on-----not leave it off for a hour. You stop turning chicken eggs on day 18---so you will not be having to turn them the last 3 days---till hatch.

The automatic turner must not be working---most all automatic turners will tilt the eggs back and forth several times a day----you check it----go back in a hour or two and it should be in a different position---if not---its not working---feel the motor---is it Hot----real hot?? Probably stuck/froze up. Good Luck
