is that a problem under a broody? Can they not get enough humidity! I'm in tn and its humid here but I wonder if its just not enough under mama if that's what's possibly going on w our hatches?
Nope, not an issue for a broody... ducks wash up and come back to their nest with damp feathers, chickens strip their underbelly of feathers and transfer moisture from their skin... and in TN right now, there is no issue with humidity anywhere, or temps... I could hatch on my porch right now... or my living room, lol...
yes its been a bit unbearable here!! So as long as she can go wash up then there shouldn't be any issues! Are you in tn also!?
OK OK yes its like hell!!A bit??? Try living on a bare hill with broken AC right now!
Yep, I'm south of Nash... and just had a Rouen mix hatch out 8 'lings a few days ago without issue... I think she even stood up while the 2nd half hatched...

OK OK yes its like hell!!our house is under construction so we have no a/c for the summer! We are in Ethridge also south of Nashville!!
stood up probably to cool off!! Get some sort of air under there!!!!
aaaww! I've got 2 little ones and we've spent a lot of time at the creek after chores are done and usually it takes me a few to splash with them or have a little wet butt sit in your lap.... Not this past couple weeks!!!! I've been the first to splash and have not minded a wet little butt in my lap at all!! Its been sooo miserably sticky on top of hot!!I have no doubt she was hot... the babies were perfectly fine sitting next to her even while still wet, lol...
Dunno why they even bother going broody right now... I think their eggs would develop and hatch just fine sitting in the coop all alone!![]()

Nice job! I bet that poor hen feels better.
Hope everyone had a great day!
Thanks to both of you! Lol well I was a Vet Tech for many years, but had not dealt with that before with a chicken. Even with surgical experience and dealing with other unpleasant things over the years it was still intimidating to deal with. Unfortunately, she is still not out of the woods. The prolapse is back this morning although much smaller and less inflamed, she keeps pushing the tissue outSo I'll have to keep working on her through the day.![]()
I still have the pony dealing with pneumonia too so I'm at week 2 crushing up 35 pills a day, mixing up a paste each time and administering her meds through a feeding syringe 3x a day too![]()
I need a vacation lol.
