Hands on hatching and help

So I don't candle the broodies eggs much... They're good at what they do, and they don't candle... Any way, one of my KCs and one Cayuga , nested so close that it's turned into a uninest... I candled 2 eggs (before the male Cayuga evicted me) I believe I saw an internal pip!!!! Since the KC stayed on her half, I didn't check many. .....

Ok tonight is the 28th day for sure. I just found a plane Jane thermometer/hydrometer same as I've been using this whole time. Well the old ones' hydrometer was broken for this whole development of eggs. Grrrr, darn it. So I thought it was 68% ish for some time now, NOPE more like 45 to 50 % I'm guessing since I was suggested to not spray so much. Whish I bought a new one earlier, what a dingaling I am.
I candled quickly last night no movement. I very much want to candle tonight but feel I've been in the lock down too many times already. If they "shrink wrap" is that only if the egg has an external pip? Or is it through the whole Lock down faze?
I can't remember from last year's hatch if much can be seen at dat 28 anyway ie. Veins? I know you may see the beak rooting around by the air sack.
Also I swear I saw the eggy wiggle when I was singing "The Rubber Ducky" song.
Sorry I'm a very anxious momma duck.

No worries on candling before external pip... unless you live in a true desert and keep the egg out for a very loooong time, it won't shrinkwrap w/out an external pip... I candle a lot to check for internal pips on my Calls so I can judge when they might need a safe hole, etc...

So "lockdown" on the 18th day or the 19th? I can't remember and I'm easily confused.

I know that I turn off the egg turner, take it out, lay the eggs on their sides, paying attention to having the air cells up, increase the humidity and then wait and pray. But doggone it, do I do that tomorrow or Sunday? <sigh>

Chickens is day 18, technically... I stop turning mine then, but a lot of times I wait to up the humidity til first pip... depends on my air cells... :)

Thank you! Egg turner out tomorrow, humidity up after the first pip. Um, one last question? How many cold dinners and warm sodas should I plan on consuming while I watch the incubator?

I do the same as Ravyn. Lately I stop turning on day 18, but don't up the humidity until day 19 or 20 - all depends on air cells. Any iffy eggs I leave fat end up in the rails or in a cut-down egg carton.

Plan on take-out and frozen pizzas the next few days...

You won't shrink wrap an unpipped egg ( unless your humidity has been next to nothing the entire incubation) and there is very little chance you'll shrink wrap a pipped egg if you hae decent humidity.
