Hands on hatching and help

So my hatch is over. 14 of 15.

One golden sebright DIS, after drawdown, so I'll open it later to see what happened.

I was worried about the last LO, it had been internally pipped for probably 48 hours, so I drilled a safe hole around 9:00 last night. It was still rocking when I went to bed at midnight, but had not pipped itself. Got up at 6:00 and it had hatched. I pieced the egg back together and it did use my safe hole to start zipping, so I'm glad I did it. Not sure it needed it, but it was successful anyway.

Final count 2/2 lavender orpington
4/4 silver duckwing OEGB
8/9 golden sebright

@Blooie

Morning! Trying to catch up but you asked something about placement of thermometers yesterday. This is just for me but finding if I place them at center mass of egg I get better results. I read its closest that way to temps of chicks inside.
When I doubt myself I also grab the forehead scanner(human kind) and scan mid section of egg to get it's EXACT temp.
Hope something mentioned helps or least gives ya an idea!

I never thought about the human scanner thermometers. Going to get one today. Oh, honn---eyyyyy........I see a trip to Billings in the day.......

Wait...is the inside of the egg supposed to also be at 99.5 then?

Oh,my gosh those are cute chicks. And would you look at all the chickylitter in the bottom of the incubator as they hatch! What a glorious sight that must be!! Now MY eggs.....my eggs are in tidy little cheery colored little baskets....the blue eggs in the blue baskets, the green eggs in the green baskets.....I'd have put little bows on them but I was afraid I'd have something else to tend before it was all over.

casportpony shared some info and graphs on using the forehead scanner to check the actual temp on the egg shells. I'll see if I can find it for you.
