Hands on hatching and help

How'd everything turn out.. usually once a chick is zipped, their veins are completely absorbed and it's safe to come out.. sometimes they just wear themselves out zipping and just a little piece of membrane is too much for them to over power so tired a d they need a boost ♡
But, yes, the lil with the pip, give it time under mama.. IF she is truly do e, and leaves the nest with the chicks and leaves that egg, you can always stick it down in you bra for the day ;)
The zipped one hatched overnight and the pipped one is nearly zipped. Mama is getting impatient and is not sitting on it any longer. Chick is alive and through the shell and membrane, so if I have to help, I'm not worried. Thank you for your help and advice!

Nice subject change... I just ignore now...

Trust me, you're not alone...

You know I got my

for you!!!
They're impossible not to love, aren't they? Especially a loner...

They dug into the damp mulch to lay those, so please excuse the slightly darkened shell... they're clean of poo, and I brushed them off, just some healthy growing base, lol...

I've been trying so hard to ignore and pretend there's no one there, but after watching really bad advice being given by same person on ss/hs and contributing to the fear mongering of being hands on -on a hands on thread, my limit was reached. I even told WV I was trying so hard not to say anything cause I knew the minute I addressed, I wasn't going to be able to remain poliet and nice.

But I will say, I haven't said what I have really wanted to so I guess I have some control....lol
Ive had 2 chicks hatch last night.. 1 starting slowly to zip finally.. I think. One other pip.
When should I move the first 2 chicks into brooder under heat lamp? The first hatched around 10pm last night and the 2nd was between 1-3am.
I know it's a personal choice and everyone does it different but this is my first time hatching chicks and I just want to try and do the best thing for them lol!
Thanks!
Yup, totally personal. If you are comfortable with it, let them dry off and become active and then switch them. Most people have to know they are at least somewhat dry before being comfortable enough to move them.

Yay:)
If worst comes to worst, you can always bring the stragglers inside until they're warm and fluffy and then slip them back under mama tonight. Sounds like u got a perfect hatch ♡♡

I told her the exact same thing..told her how badly I wanted to "express myself" but since I was new to the thread I didn't want to come in sounding like some complete crazy..
So I just politely said what I thought and bit my tongue til it bled.. and still am.. I have no filter and I'm afraid once I open the dam, there will be no closing it again ;)

Just to check you guys think I'm doing the right thing....

My Muscovy duck was sitting on a solitary egg (long story) but unfortunately my mother in law didn't realise the egg was incubating so removed it from the nest after about 18-19 days. She was off it for four hours and abandoned the nest so I put it in the incubator. We are now at day 38 and still no hatch. I know our temps were a little low during the last couple of weeks as my brinsea was poorly calibrated but it's running around 37C now. I made a viewing window and periodically I see movement and it looks to have drawn down the membrane too. Nothing to be done at this stage yet, right? There's no internal pip. I worry it's been too long now and it'll be a weak duckling inside that egg.

your patience and kindness. I just could not do it. I tried a while ago to help on a different thread with said topic and realized it was useless and I had to walk away.

You are correct. At this point there is nothing you can really do. I'd have sav a chick or nutri drench on hand in case it does hatch and is weaker because of the delay.

Lol..see?

Looking for advice. I'm new to the group. I've been following, but I just now joined to post. I have an early baby. Pipped 24hrs ago. Not much progress and she's quiet. I've kept the humidity up. Using the HDD 7 egg incubator. Today is day 21.4 eggs in the bator. Do I provide assistance to the early bird? Adding more water perks her back up? She is pipped through the top side of the broad end, through the air sac. I'm torn on helping. I just pulled away the little bits she had broken loose and rubbed water on the shell.

I always hear it as "kiss your own elbow" lol Which I have tried!!!

I'm really disappointed in my bought eggs. I think I am only going to get one chick from a dozen eggs, with a ton of late quitters. One pipped internally yesterday and then died within a couple of hours. The only one that has hatched needed a ton of help. All three of my own eggs that I set are hatching so it can't be the incubator.
I think from now on I will buy chicks and only hatch my own. Can't take the heartbreak!
