The fact that it was going down instead of around would worry me. I can answer what I would do. And that is I would start an assist by starting a zip around the egg and stopping if I see veining/blood and giving it more time. If I could make it all the way around w/o running into veins, I would do that and take the "cap" off and replacing the chick in the egg back to the bator to give him the chance to finish by itself. I've had a couple zip the wrong way and I started an assist to find the positioning was wrong for hatch or with the silkies, I had two that had very vaulted heads that couldn't turn right do to the vault.Okay, it has been 3 hours since it started zipping, or close to. It wasn't making any progress, so I peeled off enough shell off it I could see its head. Thing is, it isn't trying to get out, which it could if it tried hard enough! Just tired? leave or take off some more? The CCL that pipped at the same time is out and has a fully internalized yolk sac. I'm just trying really, really hard to not kill these guys.
Thanks for taking the time to answer my newbie questions!
