Hands on hatching and help

Sometimes assisted hatches take a bit longer to stretch out and get full control... just give it time and hopefully it will gain strength...

I hope so. It seems really thirsty but it can't hold its head up. I gave it some drops off of my finger and it drank it up. It's even trying to drink the water off the floor. I'm thinking this is a good sign.

Drinking is a good sign... did you give it water with savachik? That should give it at least a bit of vites and stuff...

Yes I did. It's started chirping. Unfortunately the last didn't make it. Geez this has been the worst hatch ever. It almost puts me off hatching. I'm just so sad these 2 didn't make it. I feel personally responsible. With the first I was to late because I waited to long. With the last I think I assisted to soon. What a mistake. Ugh I just feel awful..

Do not blame yourself! Shipped eggs are horribly awful unless you are incredibly lucky in how they are handled... and did you say these were Silkies? I know many people who have never even gotten a single shipped Silkie egg to hatch, those are not a walk in the park...

Set a batch of local eggs, even mutts if you can sell them off as soon as they hatch if you don't want to keep them... running a local batch will help you feel better when you see the difference in your hatches...

Thank you for trying to make me feel better. My other hatches did go better. I didn't realize silkies were so much harder. I've definitely learned alot from this. I just can't help feeling bad though. I know I'll get over it but right now I'm really upset. I still have so many more eggs in my other incubators. Hopefully those go better and can maybe restore my faith in hatching. So far the first 2 silkies are doing amazing. I'm glad they are doing so well adleast. Now if this other one just pulls through....

I completely understand... I did shipped Call eggs the first time I tried hatching them... 16 eggs were alive and well at lockdown, only 5 made it through hatching and even then only 4 past the first week... it's hard, rough and heartbreaking... all we can do is mourn the losses, learn from the experience, understand that we cannot control everything and continue kn from there... :hugs

Your so right. Thank you for making me feel a little better. I think im Going to try and get some rest. It's almost 3 in the morning here and I'm so tired my eyes are on fire. Thanks again and hopefully you'll be around when my ducklings hatch. I'm even more nervous now.. good night. :)

All of mine hatched, but the last few days were so nerve-wracking that I know I don't want to hatch for a while again! I can't inagine how I'd feel if most if them hadn't made it. Hope you are able to rest and recover!
