Hands on hatching and help

I think the first time I stuck Furfeet in in the buster cage was the third day in.  She was in there for about 3 days too.  In a day she was right back on the nest.  Lather, rinse, repeat.  Now, I do have to say that when I went out to do morning chores, she was OFF the nest and waiting for the food pan to be filled, so maybe..just maybe.

:fl

All my little hatchers left for their new home last night. Getting ready to lock down the 4 that are due this week. I think only 3 out of the 4 look like they might hatch. Only 9 of the ones I set Thursday are showing good development. This is killing me. If fertility doesn't come up with warmer weather I am going to clip some fluffy butts and see if that helps.

Hi everyone, I have a few questions that I need answered asap. So I have 2 chicken eggs and 8 duck eggs in one of my incubators. The problem is lockdown for the chicken eggs is suppose to be today and the duck eggs not til next week. Any advice? I have another incubator but there's duck eggs in there as well and I'm not sure there's enough room to fit anymore. I'm worried something might happen to my duck eggs BC of humidity being too high and me having to lower temp when they hatch.
Also I do see a shadow In a couple of the duck eggs but it doesn't look like the beak. And the shadow moves. Any idea what that is? And lastly I have two duck eggs that have oddly shaped air cells. I tried sitting them upright but just read your not suppose to do that with duck eggs. There is still movement in them but I have a feeling they will hatch very early due to air cells. This is not due to humidity BC it's been like that since I set them. My main concern is are the duck eggs gonna be OK while chicken eggs are in lockdown. Or what should I do. Thanks.

You should Always set your duck eggs ahead of the chicken eggs so they hatch at the same time. All you can do now is stop turning the chicken eggs, increase the moisture----let them hatch, remove and lower the moisture back down. Good Luck

Hi! Welcome to the thread. First, you don't have to lower temps for hatch. You can, and some people drop it a degree, but it's not necessary too. And with the ducks, I would leave it where it belongs. You can wait until you get an internal pip or the first externall pip if you are home to monitor them before highering the humidity. A couple days of highering humidity shouldn't hurt if the ducks have good air cells at this point. The shadow could be the duck pushing against the membrane moving/changing position.

Getting EGGcited!!! I've got 11 Delaware eggs going in the hatcher tomorrow, sooner if I see an internal pip. Bourbon Red Turkeys are due to hatch in a week, and I'm starting 2 Sebastapol Goose eggs tomorrow!

And she's OFF - guess she got tired of fighting me and getting hungry, so our White Cochin has finally given up the ghost! Now I wonder which one will go broody next. Think we can rule out King Tut and Smudge, unless Silkies are so broody that even the roosters get into the act!

Lol if they do I want pics! Lol

So, I had two hatchers Wednesday. I knew Monday night only two were still viable. They pipped close together Tuesday morning, zipped within an hour of each other, are almost identical. Both have nice vaults and are super cute. Unfortunately, these two are spoken for, or I'd keep them.
