Ok my shipped khaki duck egg has externally pipped currently has it's bill out opening and closing but I noticed bubbles coming out of it's mouth and nose is that normal? Also it made a pretty big hole I can see inside it still hasn't absorbed all its yolk it's about the size of a big grape! It looks as though the membrane is starting to stick to the duckling

humidity is at 70 I don't really want to open the bator and wet it but I don't want to lose this ducky

Is it the only pipper you have? Bubbles should not be coming out of it's nose/mouth. It may have aspirated on extra fluid in the egg. @Pyxis @RavynFallen @WVduckchick @casportpony are all good helpers for duck related hatching.

If there's unabsorbed yolk about all you can do is make sure the pip hole is clear, it's beak is clear and you can put a light coat of Vaseline, neosporin w/o pain relief or even coconut oil on exposed membranes to keep them from drying out and give it time to finish yolk absorption.

If it still has yolk you don't want it to zip. You can just pull it out, moisten the membrane and put it back. If there is still any fluid in the egg, I would cut an egg carton down and sit it up in there to keep any more fluid from being inhaled.

Do I just moisten where the hole is or do I get a Qtip and moisten what membrane I can get to? The humidity was up and down towards the end I'm not sure why as I've got more eggs in that inc now and it's fine. I've left it an hour now so I'll go up and check and quickly get it out

Just moisten the membranes that are exposed. The humidity from set to lockdown is what you need to be concerned about, especially if the egg had excess fluid in it. That says the humidity was too high to allow for proper moisture loss during incubation.

I think both my incubator and thermometer thing are rubbish to be honest I need to get a new one. The other egg I candled to see if it was ok and there is no movement at all and the veins are quite thin from what I can see on the pointy end. Think that one is gone

it's only day 27 I didn't think I would be getting problems this early!! This duckling is so eager to get out he hasn't got much to absorb now so I think I won't be getting any sleep tonight lol.

I'm pretty New at this chicken thing but worked in obstetrics for years. If newborns had fluid in their nostrils we removed it with suction cups. I suppose you could use a little eye dropper to try and auction out excess fluid

Well I checked this morning and it had passed away

I decided to put a little hole in the other ones air cell and that one had died also looks like it may have drowned. 3rd time I've attempted ducks and I think it'll be the last.

I'm so sorry for your lose. But we have all been thru the learning period. This is a very good thread and the people here will help you thru incubation from day one if you decide to try again
