How's the other one doing?

Oh my goodness!!! What a day! So egg #1 that piped first and I was worried that it was heading to the top of his egg made it out at 3pm!!!!!!! And the other egg that had only a pip in it zipped his egg in an hour and was out at 9am this morning!!

So I have 3 BEAUTIFUL ducklings!!!

They gray baby is hiding..LOL

So 2 of my ducklings have that crazy little tuff on the back of their head?????
After these three were in the brooder, I candled the last 2 eggs. I could see one duckling internally piping so he may be coming along tomorrow. The last egg I think quit developing..I saw no movement and the air cell hasn't dipped or anything. It was a blue egg so I was so curious to see what type of duckling was inside. Giving it time of course!!!!

THANK YOU so much for all your support and advice in helping me have a successful hatch

At least one more duckling to go and then I am taking a break and enjoying my babies

Awww how sweet! Those tufts on their heads are crests. Read up on them, they "can" cause issues, and you don't want to mate two of them together. But they are really cute. I have one crested drake.

Hello all! I have call duck eggs in the incubator and today's day 26! Some of the eggs still have yolk and some seem to be sorta internally pipped. One of them just peeped but still didn't seem to be fully internally pipped. Should I be concerned!? The temp is 37.1 Celsius and humidity is at 85%. Also one of the eggs is still moving but still seems to be pipped the same amount as day 23, is that bad?

I'm going to follow this and see as I have calls that are going into lockdown Saturday and apparently they are hard to hatch.

I'm so happy to see you having a better hatch!

Are they vaults like silkies?

How can you tell if they have yolk if the aren't pipped? @WVduckchick @RavynFallen @Pyxis. Are some of our resident duck hatchers.

I have the same question Amy asked -- how can you tell they still have yolk?

If you can hear them peeping, then they are most likely internally pipped, meaning it has broken into the air cell. And if one pipped on day 23 and hasn't hatched by day 26, I would assume it quit.

Can you get some pictures? I'm thinking your terminology may be a little different than what we are used to, and maybe I'm just not following you.

Also -- not being mean, because it happens quite often, but are you positive of the day count? What day did you set the eggs?

Duck crests are similar to silkies vaults, but mating them usually results in very low hatchability and/or neurological issues. Crested ducks in general usually do fine, if only one parent was crested, but can have issues. My Opie is still alive and well, he turned 2 a few weeks ago.

I candled them and saw some yolk left. I'll take some pictures when I get home. You're not being mean. This is my first time doing this without a broody hen so I'm just a little nervous. I thought I may have been off too. I set them April 6th at 4pm.
