Hands on hatching and help

Checked on the runner egg it's pretty shrinkwrapped the membrane was brown so I decided to take the top off and moistened the membrane there's no veins so I've popped it back so it can push itself out. I think I've done the right thing?

It'll be 24 hours late morning so if there's no progress I'll open a little more. That's what I'm worried about I've had to many die from this so I want to do everything right. I'm so glad byc is back I wouldn't have a clue what to do :hugs
Yes all mine started to hatch right as it went down lol

5 internal pips!! Day 28 today so I'm happy. I can hear them chirping at my two runners it's so cute
Thats great!

Do you have a pic? If no veins it may be ready to hatch now. How was it acting when you opened it up? Was it yawning and quiet or peeping and pushing around? Also did you check the clear membrane or the white membrane? :)

I'll take a photo soon. It was quiet but pushing around like I could feel it in my hands. The inner membrane was brown until I put coconut oil on then I could see some bits were just clear no veins. The white membrane was turning tanned colour. I didn't go near any of that just took enough off so it could push itself out it was pretty tight in there so couldn't move.

I would remove more of the white so you can view it better. Where its brown you may have to take some scissors and cut some of it off. Once it gets leathery it can be hard for them to get out. Usually the veining will be easier to see farther down under the white membrane. Where its dried out you probably wont see any veins.

So I can remove the brown bits? I'll do that now and take a photo.

Oh that's weird, because I had the humidity at 40 (usually between 30-35) at the most the first 25 days. It's fluffing up in certain spots, but it has some membrane stuck to it's side and some spots are hardened. I put a container in the incubator to put it in because it kept on getting stuck on its back, and that seems to have balanced her out.
Some peafowl people think that the swelling is from exerting the nck muscles whle pipping and zipping, and since peafowl and turkeys have longer necks than chickens, maybe there is some truth to it?

If there is no veining, you should be good. I'd probably finish the assist because if it got that dried out, there may be places you can't see that it is stuck and will hinder it from progressing.

Removed the brown bits you were right tiny veins inside so I've left it. Not sure why but I can't post a photo
