Hands on hatching and help

I know I ask a lot of questions but this one had me wondering,

On my 7 egg incubator, it says, turn off incubator when taking the lid off, Than it says it takes 20 minutes to preheat. But wouldn't that mean everytime I turn the eggs, I have to wait 20 minutes just for it to preheat again?
Won't the eggs get cold?
Sorry, I'm such a worrier
You don't learn if you don't ask.
I don't have experience with that bator, but I wouldn't turn it off to open it. Though I will say 20 minutes of cool down won't hurt them. It's actually quite natural as the hens get off the eggs daily.

Often malpos take longer than a normal hatcher because it's missing that step of internal pip and the time from that transition to external pip. Just make sure that the beak is clear and out, and give it time.

I can't see the beak yet. There is more of a crack than a hole. :/

We put him in the brooder and he is super pissed...

I used to leave chicks/ducklings in the incubator to dry but after this hatch I've just done I don't think I will. I checked on my duckling eggs the other day and one that had hatched had led on the pip and suffocated the other duckling. It was awful!! So he/she is the only one that hatched luckily I have maran chicks to put it with. Oh and he/she absolutely loves them :love

So, I peeled a bit of shell of from the ones that pipped this morning. Did not mess with the membrane. Saw nothing that looked like a beak at all, so I candled. The first one I couldn't see much, it MIGHT have a pip in the air cell, or just a funny shakes air cell, what do you think? The thing that could be a beak is 180 degrees away from the external pip. :(

The other one I candled and saw lots of veins.

I slapped antibiotic cream on both and I'm thinking to just leave then until the morning? What do you guys think?

That first one looks good. Beak is right there at the air cell. That second one I'm not sure what to make of it. The air cell is small, no apparent draw down and the egg does not look as filled as it should for being term.

x2! I'd have to look at that last one on something bigger than my phone. It's odd. I was thinking late quitter.
