Hands on hatching and help

Yay!! Congrats!

:celebrate
Happy for you!

Thanks guys! While I was at work the other one that I had opened the air cell for, hatched on its own. The (2nd) weird veiny one died, looked fully formed and in the right spot, but never pipped. I have heard that is common in shipped eggs. Still sad though. The two that hatched today are bantam Golden Campines. I'm really hoping it's a boy and girl so we can name them Cersei and Jamie Lannister. I will try to get pics of all 4 tomorrow. Hatching eggs is so much more stressful than I imagined! I have some others due next week, but they are in the incuview and had no temp spikes so I'm hopeful for better results. Then I'm taking a hatching break!!!

I really appreciate this thread, and the support!

My little duckling is two weeks old now. He is growing very slowly but doing great!

Now, question time. I have a broody duck sitting on 8 eggs. They are on day 20 and I candled them today. Two of the eggs are bigger and are looking good. The other six eggs are smaller and seem to have very large air cells. They still have 8 days to go so this worries me. Do you think these eggs have any chance of hatching?

Awww!!! :love :love

So glad your duckling is doing well... as for the eggs, were they moving? Still live embryos? If so, then they always have a chance... :)

DO you all recommend this incubator? I got a refund for the 7 egg one I bought, I'm gonna buy a more expensive one.

I, personally won't recommend FI incubators. The only styro I recommend are the Hovabators. Many people have had good luck with the FI bators and many have said they're no better than LGs. They have mixed reviews.

I would only use a still air for hatching not incubation. Save up and get a genesis 1588 incubator.

In a month or so you should find some deals on used ones as the hatching season ends

they also have one thats the same thing that won't run off 12 volt but I use this one because I have battery for my boat and if I have a power outage i can hook it up.
Most of us have a car and if power did go out you could hook up to your car for a few hours.
If you do get this one you need to make sure and get the 12 volt hook up it is a extra.
