It is thick and bleeding. I was able to stop the bleeding for now.

How's it doing today?

It made it through the night. I was finally able to stop the bleeding last night and now whatever is there is now drying up. I now have a problem because I think he has a wry neck? It is defiantly crooked. It is trying to move around and can't. I have vitamin E and polyvisol. I have made mash with water and electrolytes and currently syringe feeding. I have no clue if I am doing anything right, but I tried to read as much as I could. All I know is it is still alive. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you so much for checking up.

It sounds like you are doing what you are supposed to do. Give it a couple of days to see how it does. Hopefully the wry neck will be gone by then.

It will get easier the more you hatch.

It sounds like you are doing what you are supposed to do. Give it a couple of days to see how it does. Hopefully the wry neck will be gone by then.

It does. It never gets easy, at least for me, but it get's easier in being able to make the hard decisions and coming to terms with the ones that don't make it. You know you've done everything. Deciding it was time to cull a chick was very hard for me the first time I had to do it. The second time the decision wasn't so hard to make. The culling was hard, that for me doesn't get easier, but knowing that was what needed to be done came easier.

Keep it warm and feed it nurse it as best you can. If it dies you know you did the best you could. its all a part of life .Chicken hatching isn't for the Tender hearted.

My newest ducklings are six days old, and I'm not sure if anyone is interested, but I've decided to share a few pictures of them.

You probably can't tell in the picture, but duckling #8 has a bluish-gray eye. He also has a lot of yellow feathers on that side of his head. The other side of his head has a lot more black feathers and his eye is dark brown on that side. I thought that was kind of interesting. I've never had a duckling with two different colored eyes.
