Hands on hatching and help

can anyone tell me if i can assist hatch on the 21st day if they dont pip?
My last try my chicks were malpositioned and I lost them all. thanks for the help

Ugh, so I have three eggs on day 23. One I can still see movement, other two I don’t. I cracked the shell of one and peeled some shell. The membrane inside was white and dry where the bubble is. Sac around chick still had blood vessels, but there is no movement of the chick? I saw clear fluid, but no yolk.

I’m fearful of the third one dying in shell if these other two are already dead. Should I crack the shell as well?

First and foremost, they are yours, so you can do whatever you want. But I personally would give them more time. Just because the last ones were malpositioned doesn't mean these will be, and malpos can be a tricky assist. But if you decide to go in and need help, come back here and we'll be happy to lend advice.

If you still see movement, I'd give it more time. Day 23, its likely either your temps were too low, or humidity was too high.

Thanks.

Humidity stayed around 40-50% until lock, then I had it up to 60-70. Temps are hard to say, three different gauges and they ranged between 93-104. Laser temp gauge had them 99- 100, but not sure how accurate it is.

Laser thermometers are not good for incubation.

Find one like this:

specifically designed for incubation with a range of 32° - 40°C (90º to 104ºF).

Ten times more accurate than most digital thermometers, it reads to 0.1ºF with an accuracy of ± 0.2ºF. Switchable between ºF and ºC.

Brinsea spot check is one of the best ones

I am sorry about your loss.
Does the shrink wrapped ones mean the humidity was too high or too low?

Neither really. Humidity is not the number one cause of shrink wrapped chicks. Something killed them about day 19 or so. Same thing with mal position--they die before they can move into position.
