hanging cabbage/lettuce

i have this head of cabbage and lettuce one a string. was told that the minions love them but im wondering if its really safe because of the cord. they wont eat it i hope.

For choking hazard reasons, I would propose thicker rope or cord over string... but again, I have known a lot of people who used string and never had problems with chickens eating or choking on it.

Sorry for delay. Had bad wind and knocked out cable lines. The string I was going to use was just some extra shoe string I had. I haven't hung the cabbage yet. Maybe I just throw the cabbage at them and not worry about hanging it?

I think the shoe lace will be fine for them. Half the fun of hanging the head of cabbage is watching them go at it. They kind of play a game of tether ball, fun stuff!!

I don't know how you are using the string to hang a cabbage, but I use an eye screw screwed into the core of the cabbage or lettuce head. I use nylon cord tied to a dog leash snap hook and attach that to the eye screw.

When the chickens are excited to get going on the hanging treat, it helps to be able to hang it quickly.
