Hello everyone,
I will be a first time chicken hobbiest. I do have other animals as weLL. We have a bird friendly St.Bernard, 2 cats (not sure how they will be with chickens). And 2 kids (ages 18 months, and 9 years).
I am in the planning stages of our first coop!
We will be moving in April to our own house (currently renting a suite), and the yard has .45 acre. We are very excited to plan our coop with laying hens. We may eventually add a seperate coop for meatbirds (not 100% sure on this yet).
Currently we are allowed to have 5 backyard chickens per household.
I look forward to researching more about dofferent breeds of Chickens, and all the care involved. I am so excited to start this hobby with my kids!
Freeranged eggs for the win!!!

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Great intro there :D Please do check out the great links redsoxs left for you, I'm sure you will find them most helpful.
Wishing you the very best of luck for the future and enjoy BYC :frow

Since you have a young child and a toddler, I think you would prefer a fairly gentle, docile breed like Cochins, or Buff Orpingtons,
