Hello everyone, metro MN here. We did it backward, getting the coop first. Oops! We did get the city to amend the rules however, when we pointed out that they were not 100% clear so now at least nobody will make the same mistake as we did!
We tried 3 times to obtain a permit and were denied - long story but we persisted and finally...they agreed and the coop will be in an outside garage. Now we're waiting on chicks, arriving in May. We still need to construct a run which is the reason for the delay, so our permit is somewhat provisionary, as long as the run we build is sufficient, and we need to wait for the ground to thaw. In the meantime we're learning all that we can. I look forward to chatting and learning as we go - nice to meet you all!
