Happy Hen Chicken Rescue!

Yeah, they argue through the fence sometimes. The other rooster is Pip.

Today we let Pip and the Isa Brown girls out to free-range for 2 hours. I will explain why they were put in after 2 hours. Pip got into a fight with our rooster Gandhi. Although Pip I think won the fight, I think he may have been blinded or lost an eye. They both weren't giving up on the fight, so we had to put Pip and the girls back in, and they will be let out again once Pip and Gandhi recover (in a few days). Hopefully Pip's eye just hurts, and he didn't lose or blind it. I can't look at it, he won't open it. If I need to look at it, I can try but.. I cleaned the blood off his eyelid the best I could to avoid infection. I am not sure if his eye is bleeding or it is from another wound on his face.. He did open his eye for one quick second, but I could see nothing but blood.. :/ Anyways, hopefully Pip is alright, here are pictures of when they were all happily free-ranging!

rooster fights can get pretty serious.
KFC and his father still go at it, so I gave each of the boys half of the girls and separated them.
Yet they still try to get each other through the fence.

Yeah, roosters are fighters (unfortunately). Pip still hasn't opened his eye, if there is one.. It is a swollen. I got it open a crack, and put eye ointment (for animals) on it. I also am giving him Baytril to help the infection. Hopefully it will heal, and hopefully he has an eye.. And if he has it hopefully it still works.

Yeah,
we have a hen who Dennis decided he'd try to kill. he pecked her eye until it was swollen shut, we thought she lost an eye. :(
Thankfully KFC stopped Dennis before he succeeded in doing any worse.
have you tried putting ice on it?
