Happy Hen Chicken Rescue!

Hello I have liked your page on facebook... And see all of your updates. Just wanted to say really sorry about the hens that died. I know you did everything you could for them! You make the world a more wonderful place. Hope you get to your goal of money I just saw that.

I tried to get some hens from a factory farm or a rescue but none of the farms would sell to me and the rescues were to far away. So I ended up just getting some that would have ended up with in a shelter. I hope to rescue some though!

2 days ago, I got a message on Facebook. A message from a kind lady, who needed help. She had 1 female goose, 1 female turkey, 1 peahen, and 1 hen. These birds were her family, these birds were her best friends. They were diaper trained, and certainly loved.

She needed to find them a new home. She got several offers from different people, but the catch was, they all wanted to eat her turkey friend. She would not let that happen.

She had a neighbor pointing a gun at her, and her truck broke down. Not being able to afford to get it fixed, she didn't have anyway to get into town and buy food, as she lived far out in the country side. She swore to let herself starve before she let her precious birds starve. She begin cooking the birds all her food. She needed a home for them, and she needed it before nightfall. Because that night, she went to a shelter.

When she called after we gave her our number, we knew we had to help. This lady loves those birds, and we can help. So our awesome employee, Itzel, and our volunteer, Eric, jumped into action. They drove out to rescue these birds. They left at 11:00 AM, and arrived back here with the birds at 1:00 AM.

The turkey's name is Miss Turkey, the goose's name is Toul, the chicken/hen's name is Little Missy, and the Peahen's name is Bird.

And last, but certainly not least, Bird the beautiful peahen:

What happened with EE? * hugs you*

A person I know wanted to borrow my EE (S'mores) for a breeding project. So she has her for a few weeks then I went on vacation and when I came back I went over there to check on her. She had a gash on her side and really bad bumble foot. I took her back to my place, did bumble foot surgery and cleaned the bad gash on her side. She passed a few days later.

It wasn't entirely the ladies fault, but she didn't even bother to help my dear S'mores, the wound was obviously a few days old.
