"She's $1000" he said. "Personally, I think it's too high for a thing like her, she ain't worth that, but I don't make the prices" he said gruffly.

Ben bit back a remark as he gave him the money.

The man smiled and walked into the pen to get the mare. "Come here" he told her.
She looked to Ben, who nodded, and she slowly walked towards the man, who shoved the tiny halter onto her head. "Next time, when I tell you to come, you come immediately" he said, kicking her ankle with his steel-toed boot.
"I'll take her from here" Ben said quickly, taking her lead rope.

Danny glared at the man and pet her face gently.

"Have fun with her" the man laughed again. "She obeys best when she's afraid of ya. You gotta be mean with her" he said before walking off.

The mare understood the words 'afraid' and 'mean' and she shivered.

Luna flicked her ear, afraid that they'd take the man's advice.

Danny kissed Luna's cheek and walked to the truck.

She tilted her head, watching her go as Ben loaded her into the trailer.

Danny went ahead and got in the passengers seat.

Ben tied her, closed the back of the trailer, and got into the truck. "Thanks for coming with me" he said as he put his seatbelt on

Danny nodded smiling. "Your welcome."
