The man held a whiskey bottle in one hand, half empty, and Chester, by his ears, in the other. Chester whimpered softly, and the man put the bottle down and hit the puppy, letting go of him at the same time, sending him hurtling into the wall. He yelped loudly and the man stumbled over and grabbed him again, then slammed him into the ground, over and over until her stopped making any noise. He then picked him back up and held him by his ears, waiting for him to make another sound but he didn't. The man growled and threw the puppy against the wall again, then walked back over to his drink.

The man watched the puppy, waiting for him to move so that he could beat him again. After a while, the puppy pulled himself up and scrambled under the couch before the man could get him again. The man growled and jumped on the couch, causing the bottom to him the puppy before reaching under and grabbing his back leg. "You can't get away from me that easily," he said, dangling him upside down and shaking him by his leg.
