Melissa started unloading the dogs, starting with Killer, who cowered the instant she saw the new face.

Melissa set Killer's crate in the stall with Chester. They eyed each other nervously, but when Chester whimpered, her maternal instinct kicked in and she started trying to dig her way out of her cage. Melissa let her out and she instantly went to Chester. She licked the top of his head and wrapped around him. He sniffed her, then stopped trembling. Melissa smiled and walked back out to the truck.
