Hi All,

Many years ago I had hens in my backyard with a pretty basic (read: ugly) metal coop. Just recently I decided it was time for fresh eggs again and started preparing a 4.5m x 4m plot for 3 girls.

I looked at all the coop designs on this site and was completely confused. something someone said to me once about chickens originally being jungle animals must have stuck in my sub-conscious though as I woke up one day with a bamboo jungle hut design in my head.

The chicken run is right next to a tropical water garden, so the bamboo hut made sense, and I was hoping the chickens would feel an ancient tug when they saw a jungle environment.

I don't know what they think, but here are some photos of them in their new home. They seem to be happy enough!

... You have to name one of your chickens Gilligan, I don't care if they are all hens, you must have a Gilligan!

LOL. I never thought of that!

I let my partner name them - Charlotte, Rose, and Luna. I wouldn't mind getting two more little friends, so I guess there's still a change for a Gilligan - I think it's a fantastic name!
