Like Black History month. We NEED to do something to make people aware that with the times changing (and as we learn more about the human mind and body), perceptions, beliefs, customs, and LAWS have to change too.The reason why the LGBTQ+ community has a pride month is because they haven't been accepted for centuries, and to celebrate the work of many significant people at the Stonewall riots, which was one of the first big steps in LGBTQ+ people becoming accepted. Straight/Cis has always been the norm.
Same thing with race. As a white woman looking back at my life with some perspective of time, I see how non-white and non-straight people have been treated as "other" and less valuable to the world. This is not right, and must change.Plus being straight isn’t criminalized in NUMEROUS countries
Being straight isn’t punishable by death
Straights never had to fight for the right to marry
Straights never been (legally) fired or evicted because of their sexuality
Ditto. (Except on the 80/57 part. My numbers are 59/32.)By the way I am nearly 80, 57 years in a hetero marriage, and don't understand/get the haters. Gotta wonder what they are afraid of.
@TamingMaster, that link/article was interesting and fascinating. Thank you.
Happy Pride Month. Happy Pride Life. Be who you are. Love who you are.
