Hi - I live in Northern California on a 1/2 acre. I have always wanted chickens and now I have the room for them. I'm hoping to learn a lot from everyone so I can give my chickens the best care and have them thrive so I get LOTS of good eggs.

Welcome to BYC Mary Jane. Don't know how people survive temps of 113F. When I was a kid in Chicago in the '50's I recall the weatherman saying we had a weekend of 101F and 102F. I guess kids handle it better but, BOY OH BOY:mad:

It was too hot the past 2 days. And now PG&E is going to shut our power off for 2 days because winds are coming and might spark a fire.....Just returned to my house after a 2 week mandatory evacuation due to a wild land fire that burned up to 15 feet of my back door. My generator is ready to keep my fridge going.
