Harassing male...will he mellow out.

You have a lot of bugs and worms? I’ve seen a few bugs but worms are sure scarce.
My yard is heavily mulched/heavily planted, has lots of spaces where creepy crawlies can crawl under. We've been getting boatloads of rain, so creepy crawlies have a great haven to thrive and multiply.

I'm also in CA. No snow.

A neighbor's yard, who like a good mother bird I have permission to go in and scavenge, has more bugs than you can shake a stick at. I've often considered taking them there to forage, but the area beyond my front yard fence is a street with lots of cars. I've gotten them used to the idea that area is evil and must be avoided at all costs and I don't want to introduce them to the notion that there are delicious goodies a few houses down.

I was watching the Our Planet series on Nextflix and seeing the courtship displays of birds. One set of birds went out to find cool little doo dads to decorate their bachelor pads and impress the ladies. One bird found a scarlet heart that some human had tossed. I was thinking to myself, why can't drakes be like that?!?

Our duck math is wrong. We have one drake that is constantly mating the four hens and one that is the watchdog of the flock. The runner is always looking for danger in the air and on the ground.

I was going to put a posting on Craigs List last night, but my hubby was horrified by the thought. Male solidarity, I guess? I'm with you. I don't want to tolerate his shenanigans if it harms the other ducks, male duck nature be damned. I'm all for compassion but boys will NOT be boys if I have my say.

If we weren't vegetarians I wouldn't think twice about duck l'orange!
I keep four drakes and no hens. Talk about useless, other than great entertainment. Hormones are just ramping up, so one is in jail. The other three are still getting along.
Yesterday they all got free time together, but I had to supervise the pool, and break up a few fights.

Wow! Four drakes and no hens. Those guys must be beside themselves.

I am really amazed at just how much mating those drakes need. I mean seriously, how many times a day do they need to go at it? Dude, you've already mated about 100 times. If one of your sperm hasn't made it past the goalpost by now, maybe you need to consider packing it up and going home.

They are still not getting the job done. Only 1/3 of the last batch of eggs we ate were fertile
