I purchased chicks last Spring at our local farm supply store and discovered the hard way that they did not buy chicks that were vaccinated for Marek's disease. Lost 3 Americaunas. Had the last one autopsied because I was not used to losing birds and found out this was the culprit. When I called the store to tell them, the manager was clueless. Just told me the name of the hatchery they had purchased from. I guess the goal was to sell more for less. I will never take the quick and easy way to purchase. I am excitedly waiting on my new order of ladies from a reputable hatchery and I paid the money for the vaccine. Lesson learned.
