Hi everyone,
I took my sister's chicken Cleo to the vet one week ago as she had a hard lump the size of a grapefruit in her behind, below the vent. The other chickens were pecking at her, so I separated them and that's making a big difference. The vet said she didn't know what the lump was but that it was 'not good' and required immediate surgery. One week later, Cleo is doing OK. She is eating and pooping, but not as much as the others and her poop is more watery and smaller. She's walking around normally. As soon as I combine them Cleo is bullied (even though she tries to act strong).
My question is, has anyone had this issue and done surgery? I'm attaching two X-rays the vet took, but she was still unable to identify the problem.
Should I consider surgery? My sister is out of town for six more days.
The vet could not feel any eggs in her vent. I've tried extra calcium, anti inflammatories and warm baths.
Thanks!!!
Dina
