I found a hard mass on the wing of my buff can anyone help me with how to take care of it?
I think it is an absess, but it could possilbly be bumblefoot. If it is bumblefoot is it contagious?
I don't want to risk infecting the rest of my flock. Please can someone help me.

Any chance you can post a picture or describe the hard mass a little more? Did it feel like bone protruding? Did it have skin covering it? Rough edges? How big is it and where on the wing is it located? Bumblefoot is a staph infection- it is my understanding that staph is commonly found in the environment and on the skin, it just takes a cut or abrasion for the "bumble" to set up so the biggest threat to your flock w/ bumble foot would be that they all suffered the same kind of injury that allowed the staph to establish itself.

It did'nt feel like a bone was exposed. It has skin covering, about the size of a quarter, smooth to the touch but kinda squishy.
I'll try and get a pitchure of it. If she will be willing to let me.
