Hard shell eggs laid with a single soft spot

One of my Easter Eggars has been doing the same thing over the last two weeks. For a while she had stopped laying And then when she started again they would have a small soft spot on the side. I didn’t change anything with her food and all of the other hens have been laying normally. This morning for egg was completely normal! So I have no idea why she went through this but I will keep you updated over the next week or two to see if it changes again

Same thing is happening with one of my chickens also. It is a perfect egg other then one spot right in the middle on side that is soft. I provide them oyster shell and make sure to provide them with a good quality feed for laying hens. I hope someone figures it out. I noticed some saying this is normal for younger hens. Mine just started laying in March so is that the reason?

Hello everyone! I've got a bit of an oddity going on over here... it seems that one of my girls keeps laying these eggs that have a soft spot on them. The egg seems to be fairly normal in every way other than a spot that maybe the size of a dime at most, that is so thin-shelled that it will fall in on itself. The membrane is never broken, the eggs haven't been pecked at... they're just super, super thin, in one spot only!

Has anyone ever seen anything like this? My web searching didn't really turn up much.

Did you ever figure out what was causing this? I have a chicken laying eggs just like this. Slightly flatter with that same exact looking soft spot.

I have the same problem with one of my five girls, still don’t know why. Sorry I’m no help but just wanted to say you are not alone in this mystery.
