Hard, Thin, Long (toothpick-like) Structure Protruding from Turkey Throat

The gobbler doesn’t seem to notice it, and it doesn’t bother him. He doesn’t have any injury marks where he was jabbed with anything. The follicle there is swollen and white, but other than that, no clues. Any idea what this may be?

I keep looking at your pic, and I'm not seeing what you've described. Now, male turkeys do have these things that grow on their necks called caruncles. They're kind of fleshy. In the spring time they get red (I think to attract the females). Could this be what you're seeing?

I don't think I've seen anything like that. I'm guessing you're talking about the bony looking piece that's protruding from what looks like his ear down? Looks like it's near his cheek? Have you been able to open his beak to see if there's a stick or something stuck Perhaps I'm not looking at the right spot?
