Hardiest Ducks for Michigan weather?

Oh, and no heat lamp for these girls. It was down in the single digits F last night and they didn't seem too bothered about it.

That is amazing! I already looked them up on Metzer. SO excited to order some girls this summer!

I don't have many pictures, but there is almost always snow on the ground and they are almost always sitting in it when I get home from work. They do have a small house with a few inches of straw and they do go in there regularly, especially if it's windy, but they definitely aren't shy about the snow. My chickens on the other hand will crane their necks and stay on their ramp and try and do everything they can to get food and water without touching the snow. If the chickens even see snow out their coop window they sometimes won't even come outside for hours! The chickens are chicken! haha.

That is hilarious! Our Campbells are chickens as well lol They really truly are. I stopped letting them free range because they see snow, turn around and run right back inside the pen in obvious horror. I cannot believe your ducks actually go outside! Even on a milder day, like today, they are in the shed and only venture out to eat, drink, and rush back inside. It has gotten to the point where pine shavings and straw are becoming pricey because they do not utilize their pen at all. We rigged a few tarps to block north winds, and shovel snow out. I even put pine shavings down on the ground where the pen is half roofed so they have dry gound-still not working! I look forward to getting some ducks that will want to come outside with me and keep me company while I'm doing chores

I have 22 ducks. I have pekins, Campbell's, Indian runners, muscovies, rouens, and khaki campell mallard mixes. I let my ducks out if the temp is going to 20°F or warmer. They love the snow. They get in the pool and play in the snow.

My neighbors have muscovy ducks and they are always outside sitting in the snow. They seem to relish it; which, is weird considering they originated from South America.

And mine are just the opposite My Muscovy's don't like snow and maybe because they are getting older 5yrs and up to 10 they spent a good deal of time inside their coop during the really frigid windy days. Their choice because all the pop doors are open during the day. My Runners and Buffs spent quiet a bit of time indoors this winter too. My geese were the hardy ones. lol

How perfectly cute! I love all the different colorations. Now I have one Campbell that plays in the snow as of yesterday lol but the rest sit in the coop. This one climbs up and down a snow incline I made accidentally clearing snow off the shed roof. I see you have a good selection of breeds and they don't seem to mind cold weather. I wonder where we went wrong that our flock is so unwilling to venture outdoors...
