Hardware cloth attached to bottom of coop/run?

With very loose sand, I'd bury it down at an angle and let the weight of the sand hold it down, since pins aren't really going to do much on that front.

The way an apron works is a pest/predator will start trying to dig in at the base of the run fencing, hit the apron, maybe back up a few inches to try again, but the wire keeps them from digging in. Most animals won't think of backing up 1', 2' to find the edge of the wire.

This is why having all that wire under the sand doesn't work as an apron, because let's say a rat digging at the base of the run fencing, can just slip in - there's nothing to keep it out.
