Hardware cloth resources

Good Evening,

Looking for a resource(s) to purchase vinyl covered or PVC covered hardware cloth. Looking for 1/2 x 1/2 mesh. Not sure about gauge size.

I know about Lowes, Home Depot, other big box stores. Carolina Coops has this cloth used on their coops.

Not sure how much I need as I'm going to build a run also.

Where are the wholesalers/retailers for hardware cloth online. Probably need 48 " x 50 feet initially.

Coop will be open air style 8 x 16.

Why are you looking for coated wire? I used galvanized and it's holding up just fine. The least expensive source I found was Amazon. I purchased three 48" x 50' rolls and they were shipped to my house in 2 days.

I agree, Vinyl coated is VERY expensive and NOT necessary . I live in WI. I used galvanized hardware cloth. It's been 2 yrs, my Hardware cloth looks like new. I will replace it as necessary, if it rusts. I think it should be an easy fix.

Best buy I found was on amazon. 48"x100' $140ish. I would have to look again. It was free shipping and quick. Heavy 19ga.

Be careful when ordering online. I bought some from Wayfair because the same brand as Amazon had was slightly cheaper. However about 1/4 of the roll had an area that was misshapen and could not be used. (By the time you paid for postage to return it, etc...)This brand was made in China. For my new coop I'll be buyin hardware cloth only made in the USA even though the cost is definitely higher.

All the HW cloth on this came from Amazon. No problems with it.

I also got mine from Amazon. Galvanized is what I use too. I have some that's over 8 years old and still looks like new.

Have had several hundred feet of HC from amazon, no major problems with it.
Not sure wayfairs doesn't come from china too.

Coated HC can look better and be easier to see thru...
....but not worth the extra cost to me.

On amazon, there is hardware cloth from 7penn. It is 48"x100' 19 ga 1/2x1/2" hardware cloth. It is only $100. I have not used it. I plan to though when I start building my run after the ground thaws and dries out here. I was apprehensive at first as it only had a 3.5 star rating, but once I dug into it, I plan to buy it. The written reviews have 7 5-stars and 1 1-star. I'll take my chances with those odds and that price. Like I said no experience with this cloth, but something worth looking into.
