Harris Farms Drinker Leaking Out

You can see the water is pouring out from the tabs where the base attaches to the top. It does look like the water level is up on the base, I don't remember it being that high.
I did crack a plastic tab off the top and had to patch it - wondering if that might be causing a problem. Regardless I need to replace it as the water drains out pretty quickly and I don't need dehydrated birds.

You have two problems with that waterer---it's broken and it's not level.

That's the problem. It needs a vacuum. If you didn't completely seal the crack, water will drain. GC
