Harris Farms Nurture Right 360 Incubator is AMAZING!

ok I couldn't wait so checked a couple eggs today, day 4, and still see nothing..

so now my question is if the 2 I just posted (from 3/26 and 4/5) are fertilized then one would assume the ones in the incubator are as well since they were laid in between those 2. So why would they not develop at all?

I have been fooled by eggs that look fertilized before. Here's the thing, I can find eggs that look like yours in my own eggs...but I don't have a rooster. So I'm positive they aren't fertilized.

So in other words, I see the ring too but I didn't say anything because I'm not positive on those. I'm leaning towards not being fertilized though. Sometimes you can look at an egg and it's undeniable because the bullseye will be very pronounced but I've also looked at eggs from hens that didn't quite look fertilized but once we set eggs from that hen they did indeed start to develop.

See how pronounced the bullseye is in this image?

I do see it in the first picture. But the 2nd that shows both just looks like a bigger white dot, I don't really see the bullseye in that one.

Well guess I give them a few more days then toss those and wait. Can't really start more for like 3-4 weeks if these ones do nothing anyways. Ready to just throw in the towel completely, return both incubators and just order some and pay the high small order fee for chicks. I really wanted to hatch some but the $ for the incubator, wasting almost 2 dozen eggs, the disappointment and feeling it will never happen.... Just not sure it is worth it. To get 3 chicks, can only keep 2 with a small order fee I think is around $85-100.... Just don't have the joy of hatching.

So if you look into the "why" of the bullseye it may help things to make more sense for you. Once a pullet is laying eggs with a white dot, that's the blastodisc, it's unfertilized.
When a rooster is introduced to the mix and the egg is then fertilized, before the egg is even laid, the zygote divides and begins to grow, the cells segregate into groups of specialized functions, and the embryo nearly stops growing between laying and incubation. Meaning it doesn't actually completely halt. You're seeing this super early development that is in a sort of stasis until the egg reaches the appropriate temperature to continue development.

I'm sorry you're feeling that way. I really do think it's just that the eggs aren't getting fertilized though. You could trim butts to see if that helps but hatching isn't for everyone. I understand! There was a huge learning curve for me initially! My very first hatch under a broody hen was a complete DISASTER and I thought for sure I would never try again but here I am...lol!
