Harris Farms Nurture Right 360 Incubator is AMAZING!

How do you calculate your percent hatch rate? Do you include the eggs that were infertile or only the quitters? I had 16 eggs from my flock that had 6 clear and two early quitters. Eight eggs went into lockdown and so far I have 7 chicks. Today is day 22 and I have 1 egg left. I really love this incubator, but this is my first time hatching my own eggs so I don't have any comparison.

When calculating the hatch rate for your incubator you subtract the clears/non-viable eggs that don't start to develop. If you're trying to calculate your rooster's fertility rate or viability of eggs then you would include the clears.

For example, it sounds like this is what yours would look like:

80% (started with 16, 6 infertile, 2 quitters, 8 live chicks)
62% Fertility/viability (6 of 16 eggs no development)

We now have 2 little ones. But I have 2 questions. One of the 3 eggs that were doing good got pushed around and is now sitting with the pipped area down. Should I flip that one back up or will the chick move itself? Also out second chick has the bigger part of the shell stuck to its backside. Should I try and get that off of it or will it be fine?

I would probably just super gently, while holding the goo between the chick and the shell, remove the egg shell. I would be worried that the weight of the shell could make the navel worse.

I took a small pair of scissors and cut the majority off so it wasn’t dragging the egg around. But will for sure keep an eye on that one to make sure the vent isn’t blocked.
We got one more that’s zipped a pretty good hole just waiting for her arrival and another that’s pipped but just sitting for now

Sounds perfect. 👍
That's awesome. What type of eggs are they? I'll have to read back through a little bit.

These are just our general flock mix. We have mostly brahma hens with one RIR hen and one brahma roo and one what appears to be an amberlink roo. So it’s really a guessing game on what’s going to hatch. But these little buggers are cute already

Oh cool! They're going to be so pretty I bet.
Any feathered legs?
