Oh, ok. That makes sense.I live in Maryland they shut all poultry sales down until August because of the bird flue
Yep, I wasn't to happy to find that out.. I wanted to sale the ones I have in another week or so.. but now I will have to make room for my dog kennel in the coop for this next batch. Probably add an extra roost for them until I rehome or they are big enough to butcher. I am keeping a couple but no room for all of themUntil August?! Wow that's such a bummer.
The halt on sales is only for auctions and swap meets. Chicks from hatcheries, and npip are fine. In NY its also allowable to still sell directly person to person. Just no big meet ups. May be the same where you are, the legal terminology is confusing.Tractor supply did still have chicks today. Idk. Why they can still sale them, some looks a week or so old others were younger
Yea I haven't really looked into it. But figured if someone I know wants them then it's no big deal, since I know my birds are healthyThe halt on sales is only for auctions and swap meets. Is there a way to find out outside humidity levels? According to my thermometer/hygrometer my coop is 42 and house is 31 which isn't bad for the house lately.I know in my area of NY we have had extremely low, brush fire warning low, humidity levels the past few days. Do you happen to know what the outside humidity is near you?
My 2 cheapie hygrometers say about the same and the govee shows an Ave of 32.4 today.... Vent was about half way closed then. I closed it about 3/4 shortly before I posted and it now says it is 52.6. Will try to open it a tiny bit more. Is the 32.4 ave for about 20 hrs going to hurt them? I checked the cover a couple times thinking maybe it was that.Do you have less eggs in the incubator? The eggs themselves release moisture as well so less eggs means less moisture, that could be one difference. Also does the hygrometer on your incubator match your secondary hygrometer? They're both low?
Also check the lid to make sure that it's completely closed. I just run my fingers around it to make sure. Sometimes it doesn't sit flush right off the bat.
That should be fine. My outside one was reading 15% on Friday…unheard of.Is there a way to find out outside humidity levels? According to my thermometer/hygrometer my coop is 42 and house is 31 which isn't bad for the house lately.
