Since we have a twilight thread I think that good old Harry Potter deserves one as well. I started reading the books because my neice, who was around 10, received book 1 as a gift. I read it before she did because at the time there was a Baptist group in my area protesting the sale of the book at our local bookstore. I needed to make sure old Harry there wasn't encouraging satan worship. He wasn't. So I read it, my neice read it, then my other neice read it. Since then we have been to all the midnight releases for the books and I always take them to the movies on hte day they are released. Even if it means checking them out of school that Friday. It's one of our things. Next year we are going to the Harry Potter theme park at Universal Studios in Orlando. We love Harry Potter.

One of my favorite lines "Braggarts and rogues, dogs and scoundrels, drive them out, Harry Potter, see them off!"

Gotta love little men on fat ponies.

Some of our more religious relatives flipped out when the book came out. We read it to make sure it was ok for our oldest son. I ended up completely hooked

Apparently my son and I can tell fantasy from reality, so no permanent damage done

My oldest son finished them years ago (he is 11), my 9 y/o just finished them and is soooooooooo sad they are over, my 7 y/o is about to start them. I haven't read them but my kids sure love them.

I just bought the whole Box set a couple of weeks ago as a collection. Never actually read the books before, so I picked the first one up and started and before I knew it I am Now finishing Book 4!

These are proving to be very good books, even for Adults to read! Can't wait for my son to be old enough to read them alone! (he is 5)

My son is only 2 so I can't wait to share Harry with him when he's old enough. My neices and I have LOVED the books and movies both. It's going to be really sad when the last movie comes out .

Then it's all over. Rowling has made so much money that there is no incentive for her to do any more books. Except maybe the fact that she has some really die hard fans.

I did the same thing as Wifezilla. I was curious as to how bad they were and got hooked. I love the Harry Potter books and movies.

I was at a dairy goat national show some years ago. A Harry Potter book had just come out. It was interesting to go through the barn and see who all was reading it. I saw eight year old youngsters and seventy something grandmothers all with their noses buried in the book and all equally enthralled. I don't remember seeing any book, ever, with such a wide and varied audience appeal.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie comes out July 15!!!!!!! AAAAHHH!!!!!!!

(The book was is SOO much better, but what the heck right?! How often does one get to wear their Harry Potter glasses?!)

3 days before my 30th Birthday!

Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows were the only huge books I read from start to end in less than 24 hours. My eyes were so bloodshot after those two days.

I am now 23 and have loved them since they first came out. I drag my husband to midnight book releases, and we still go to see the movies the day they open. When we first started dating in May years ago we made a date to go see one of the movies the day it opened in Nov. We were still together months later to go, and make a point to go to all the movie releases. He makes fun of me and jokes about it but I have caught him watching the movies alone.... He's a closet fan.
