Yes, they stayed true to the book in most of it. I guess they changed the ending because they thought it was more "exciting" or something. I think it would have been a lot more exciting had they left that fight scene the same. But the message was the same - "good triumphs over evil." The scene with Harry and Dumbledore in King's Cross is there. I think they did a good job with the movie all-in-all. Our theater was packed to the gills and there were times when the whole theater erupted into triumphant shouting and clapping -we really had a great time.
