harvesting sunflowers

The sunflower seed marauders are always watching and lurking, its awful to go out expecting to see your plant heads and they are gone! :eek:

It is relatively entertaining lol. I have busted the little buggers in the act! They certainly react when I tell them "I see you tree rat! Drop that flower!" The scurry away as fast as those tiny legs can carry them.....usually still holding the flower.

Yeah, they have probably lined their winter nests with your seeds. :D I have let out some blood curdling screams at our squirrels over the years, they look at me like I'm nuts and keep on devouring my garden as if I am not even there. Darn things don't even run anymore. :gig
 
thankfully nothing got at them! very surprised though, there’s always an abundance of birds and squirrels around my house, i figured that at least one of them woulda gotten mauled haha. i cut my biggest ones yesterday and now have them left to dry completely in the shed. saw this cute lil bee napping though and had to leave this flower for the time being.
