We have been offered hardwood shavings from a local cabinet shop, likely to be usual cabinet woods such as oak, maple, hickory, cherry, etc. I have heard these are not ok due to splinters - is this true? We would be using them with our adult standard chickens.
We have a friend that crafts all kinds of things from hardwoods. I'm using his shavings with my adult birds and my chicks. No problems that I know of, yet. I imagine with adult birds it shouldn't be a problem. Anyone else??
