Hi, I’m new to ordering eggs online I have had chickens for years but just recently lost all do to predators. Anyways I was wanting to restock and I thought maybe ordering some assorted eggs and see what I get like the mystery of it, but I never order eggs online I’ve always hatched eggs from the chickens I had, I’m thinking of ordering some barnyard mix of eBay or a hatchery has anyone have advice or success on this? Thank you!

Before you buy a barnyard mix, consider if that's what will work for you down the road. And also if you want a steady egg production.

But yes buying eggs off Ebay have been a good experience for me. I made 4 different purchases for specific breeds during 2020. The hatch rate was 50/50. But I'm glad I got some of them to hatch. Check your future forecast and the sellers weather, to make sure shipping won't have any snags. You should be set.

I got Ayam Cemani eggs off eBay and got a beautiful pair. Bought 3 doz. Celadon eggs and got a wonderful floxk. As long as you make sure nothing looks fishy or sounds weird, you're usually good to go

Buying and shipping of eggs from an on-line source is always risky! Some, one, all or none may hatch. If you can find a local source you'd have a better chance of being successful in hatching.
I've ordered many eggs from on-line sources, with the afore mentioned results.

Either way, best of luck in your endeavors!

My first attempt off eBay was great! Confession: someone else incubated and hatched. Hatch rate: 100% kinda.

Bought 6, received 8. Two eggs didn’t make it: 1 was not fertile. The other just stopped after a while.

The seller was wonderful and helpful. Really great. So was my post office.

I want to try hatching some myself so I’m working out a deal with a seller for 4 eggs... through eBay of course. Make sure you check the feedback.

One benefit is the wide variety!

If you want a cheap, colorful flock with the fun of hatching eggs, find your local farmer's market or "Egg lady". Refrigerated eggs have at least as good a hatch rate as shipped ones.

I've had mixed luck with shipped eggs from E bay. I try to get them fairly close proximity to me for less time/jostling in shipping. I can say that the sellers I have purchased from all did a wonderful job with packaging. It is risky, but I would/will do it again.

Actually better.

Refrigerator eggs, if fresh and local, actually have an excellent hatch rate, almost as good as the same unfridgerated eggs.
