Has anyone bought Marans eggs from Pasofina/Nonesuch Farms in TX?

Black eggs?? One breed of ducks perhaps lays a very dark green egg. Not sure which one but there is ONE breed of bird that would lay that color.

I think it would be said it would be almost unrealistic expectation of the OP to have the BC Marans to be "perfect, and without flaw" and yes I do see the common threads in here about selective breeders and dismiss them without any value to their expertise in the breed. The Marans are still a new breed in the US and it would take a little while longer to get to the consistency of color, type and egg color to be steady with each generation.

The Welsummer Bantams are the same way, we have a long ways to get to the type and egg color we need to have to match the quality Welsummer LF is known for.

Like I tell everyone from time to time, do your research and do alot of talking to people that has bought their birds and what they like and dont like and whats the expectations of the Marans breeders' and their goals.

If you want pets, ask the breeder for culls OR go to the hatchery. That way you can utilize any way you want for Marans for pets. Do not expect top of the line birds or darkest eggs.

Julie I saw your other post, and I have no additional comments at this point!
