Has anyone gotten chickens from Sadie Girl Farm?

I actually ordered my first quail from her recently, too. They are supposed to ship late April. She has info about how to care for quail on her website and can send info/ answers questions via email, too. She seems very nice.
I think there is a separate quail category of this website, also, if you need more info on them.

Wow, I really appreciate this info. I was able to log in on their website and it said "awaiting processing" so I was not sure. I checked out their page on YouTube and although there wasn't anything to recent, there was some really good information both basic and advanced which I also appreciated. Thanks again! I am currently on day 14 of incubating some eggs I got from friends locally. It is my first time incubating chickens or anything for that matter. Pretty excited!

I just wanted to follow-up on here to share my positive experience with ordering quail eggs from here. I received them in the mail in excellent condition. I know the post was asking about Marans, but I feel like the same attention to detail and quality on my order will also translate to the chicken ordering mentioned earlier in the thread.

Thanks for sharing! I placed an order with Sadie Girl Farms this past week for 5 sexed Celadon quail and I’m really looking forward to getting started. You mentioned your order was placed at the beginning of April with an expected ship date in late April—just wondering how it all went?

Did they arrive around when expected, and are you happy with your quail so far? I’m getting everything set up now and just trying to get a better idea of what to expect. Really appreciate any insights you’re willing to share!

Yes! I received 5 Blue Ridge Jumbo quail and 3 Celadon quail on April 23, just 1 day after the planned ship date. As she said she would do on the website, I got 3 different color varieties of Celadon quail, and each are so pretty. Unfortunately, I lost one this week to a neck injury....possibly by another of the quail? I had bought a rabbit hutch like she suggests, but I made the mistake of buying a double-decker rabbit hutch. DON'T get one of those, as the quail do not use the upper floor of the hutch, even when placed there with food and water. They must feel safer on the bottom, is my guess. But now, they are too crowded on the bottom as there are 7. The doors on my Pawhut hutch are very poorly made....one fell open in the wind and all of them got out! If I were you, I would find a higher-quality hutch, if you haven't pur hased already. The quail make a songbird, chant-like call, which is very quiet and cute. They are super messy and would benefit from several small feeders and waterers because they're constantly messing those up. I got my first egg today. I attached a couple pictures. Good luck!

Tagging along just to see reviews. I see their stock came from 3 lines (Greenfire, L.P. and Bev Davis)

@Island Coppers IIRC just recently got some from Greenfire stock and has very nice birds and egg color.

ETA...you could try asking in the Main Marans thread also and may get you some more helpful insight.

I wanted to post pictures of 2-3 of my Sadie Girl Farms BCM's, now hat they're finally laying. While they're certainly pretty eggs and provide good contrast to many others in my egg cartons, I am disappointed in how light the color turned out. There are many pictures of very dark, chocolate eggs from SGF's BCM's on their website. And she says they are known for their dark chocolate colored eggs. I wish I could have seen pictures with the range of BCM egg colors her BCM's produce to get a more accurate idea of what I might expect to get. And 35 dollars a chick, I was hoping for 8-10 on the Marans color scale. These eggs are a little darker than my ISA Brown girl's eggs, but lighter than my MMM from Hoover's Hatchery. My four BCM's from SGF are, however, the friendliest, most curious Marans I've ever owned, like she says on the website, and I think they're gorgeous. I still have one more BCM to start laying, ( Coco), and I hope that her eggs are, well, dark!

How many eggs have you gotten from each girl? I can't vouch for all lines but generally with my Marans they will darken by the second week. With Marans it's recommended to track their first 20 eggs and this will give us their average egg color they will lay.

Here's a decent example of one of my hens first 18 eggs.
All are dated left to right, back to front. Angel's first 6 (back row) were pretty wonky with a 4th double yolk. By the 7th egg she had stabilized her color and continues to lay that until it her ink jets fade and resets again after her break, molt or going broody. Pic is a couple years old, but I think it's a nice representation of the transition a new layer makes into their consistent egg color.

Wishing you luck yours will darken up over time for you.

Oh, interesting. I have only gotten 4 or 5 from one, then 2 or 3 from the other 2 , 23 week olds. I have a 22 week old that has yet to lay. That gives me hope they will get darker. Those are beautiful eggs.

I wanted to give an update on my Sadie Girl BCM eggs. I emailed the farm, and she says these eggs I posted previously couldn't be from her chickens. There is a possibility they could be from some of my new layers. And, Ive gotten a couple others since then....definitely her BCM's. Wish they were a shade or two darker, but they are very pretty.
